Jorge Maeda
Former president of Abrapa. Led Brazil’s victory at the WTO on cotton.
One of the leading names in Brazilian agribusiness, with more than 30 years in the sector. As president of Abrapa (the Brazilian Cotton Growers Association), he was a key figure in the turnaround that took Brazilian cotton from major importer to the world’s largest exporter, and he led the internationalization of Brazilian fiber. At the head of Abrapa, he led the global action against U.S. cotton subsidies at the WTO, which Brazil won.
He built joint ventures with BP, Delta & Pine Land, Monsanto and ECOM Agroindustrial, among others. He led the joint venture between Grupo Maeda and BP in sugar and ethanol, today the second-largest operation in the sector in Brazil, and globalized the ethanol market. He was an industry association leader at the municipal, state and federal levels and is a partner at JFP Agro, a management consultancy for agribusiness.
At Hevea Dynamics, he brings direct access to, and relationships with, decision-makers in Brazilian agribusiness.
